Park City, Utah, is host to more than just great ski slopes. Recently, it was the setting for Robert Redford’s 2010 Sundance Film Festival, offering a snowy backdrop for nearly 40,000 film buffs.
Started in 1981, the Sundance Institute has long been an arbiter of independent documentary, drama and short film. The New York Times’ Manohla Dargis writes, “For all its problems, the festival remains one of the most important in the world and the foremost launching pad for American independents.” The festival has sought to further democratize its festival experience by launching a pay-per-view service on YouTube for home viewers.
